Membership payment of $50/family will be paid via our website or by check (within 24 hours) to Panhandle Homeschool Connection and dropped off to 1116 22nd Ave Sidney.
Membership cannot be approved without agreement to
Statement of Faith, Discipline Policy, Liability Waiver & Member Handbook.
Background checks are required for all adults working with children.
We will be using the text service, so please make sure you mark the checkbox stating YES you wish to receive text messages FOR THE PRIMARY NUMBER ONLY. Please do not mark for spouses and children since PHC pays a small fee for each text message.
Admin will review all membership requests and approve upon receipt of payment.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Families must be homeschooling according to Nebraska State Home-based Education law (or the state in which they reside), which includes filing a Declaration of Intent to homeschool.
  • Children attending social events and co-op classes must attend with their own parent or legal guardian.
  • Social Members, Parent(s) and teachers, including substitutes, must sign in agreement with the PHC Statement of Faith.
  • Primary (attending) Parent & Teachers must attend a co-op orientation meeting at the beginning of the year.
  •  All adults attending co-op in any capacity (more than a 1 time visit) must pass a background check.
  • The cost of a background check for the primary (attending) parent is included in the membership fee.
  • If both parents are attending full time in a teaching/helping capacity, there is no charge for the second background check.
  • If the parent who did not sign up as the attending parent or teacher starts attending co-op, there will be a $20 background check fee.
  • If the background check precludes a potential member from being eligible to work with children, membership will be denied, and membership fee paid to PHC will be refunded minus a $20 background check fee.

Discipline Policy:

You are responsible for disciplining your own child. 

  1. If there is a discipline issue, the teacher or parent helper will remove the child from the classroom immediately and bring child to parent. If the child isn’t cooperative, parent helper will go find the child’s parent. After the parent and child work this out, the child can be returned to the classroom.

  2. If this is a continuing problem, you will be asked to sit and supervise your child in their classes, possibly for the rest of the year. 

  3. If the issue isn’t resolved with parent involvement, the leadership team will become involved to discuss further action.

  4. If all efforts to resolve the problem fail, or an incident serious in nature occurs, expulsion may be considered at the discretion of the leadership team.

   

 Note: No child is to be without adult supervision on the church premises, as we need to make sure no property, including vehicles, gets damaged.

Liability Waiver and Release Agreement

IN CONSIDERATION of being allowed to participate in any way in Panhandle Homeschool Connection (PHC or Releasee) related events and activities, the undersigned (Releasor) does:

  1. Recognize and acknowledge that Panhandle Homeschool Connection is a group of volunteer members and their families.  The PHC leadership team is comprised of members within our organization who have volunteered to guide activities and lead group discussions. This Agreement is intended to hold harmless those volunteer members in leadership and all volunteer members who help organize events, field trips, co-ops, parties, etc.  

  2. Acknowledge that they are responsible for themselves, their children, and their guests AT ALL TIMES.  Any damage or liability to persons or property are the sole responsibility of the person (or in the case of a minor, parents/legal guardians of minor child) responsible for said damage or liability. The Releasor does agree that the member/participant should inspect the facilities and equipment to be used, and if the Releasor/participant believes anything is unsafe, he or she should immediately advise a supervisor (advisor, manager, etc.) of such condition(s) and refuse to participate. By undersigning and participating the Releasor does acknowledge and fully understand that each member/participant will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death, and severe social and economic losses which might result not only from their own actions, inactions, or negligence but the action, inaction, and negligence of others, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, that there may be other risks not known to us or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. Therefore, the Releasor does assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability or death.

  3. Understand that PHC is not required to maintain any insurance policy covering any circumstance arising from participation in these events or any activities associated with PHC, and PHC will not be responsible for any medical costs associated with an injury sustained by themselves, their children, and their guests. 

 

By signing my name to this Waiver and Release Agreement, I, as agent for myself and family members, (the 'Releasor), being of lawful age, in consideration of being permitted to participate in homeschool activities scheduled for the 2025-2026 school year which are run and/or organized by member volunteers of PHC, do WAIVE, RELEASE, and DISCHARGE and will be forever prevented from suing or otherwise claiming against any members of Panhandle Homeschool Connection’s volunteer members and their families and, if applicable, teachers, volunteers, agents, and owners or lessors of premises used to conduct the event, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “Releases,” from any and all liability to each of the undersigned, his or her heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury, including death and damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise while participating in or preparing for the above noted activity(s).   


I have been given the opportunity and have been encouraged to seek independent legal advice prior to signing this Waiver and Release Agreement. I understand that this Agreement is binding on me, my spouse, my heirs, my executors, administrators, personal representatives and assigns. This Agreement contains the entire agreement between the parties to this release and the terms of this Agreement are contractual and not a mere recital.  This Agreement will be construed in accordance with and governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, and it is acknowledged by the Releasor to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of this jurisdiction.   

I HAVE READ THE ABOVE WAIVER AND RELEASE AGREEMENT, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS WHICH I OR MY HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND ASSIGNS MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASEE(S) BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT VOLUNTARILY.

Membership Payment is due within 24 hours of registration. We have an online payment option or check made out to to Panhandle Homeschool Connection can be dropped off to 1116 22nd Ave, Sidney within 24 hours of registration request. 

***If you are teaching classes with no children joining, there is no membership fee. Do not pay, the invoice will be adjusted.***
