Additional Information
As before, my goal is to introduce the teens to games that maybe make them think or strategize a little. I will need a parent or two to come help each night, especially if most of the upcoming 7th graders join us. You don't have to know any of the games ahead of time, but a willingness to learn and play would be helpful.
All game nights this summer will be at the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney. We'll use the gym/family center on the north side of the church. There is parking on that side of the building.
It would be great if people could bring some sort of treat to share, whether it be a bag of gummy bears, bag of chips, cookies, veggies, lemonade, etc.
Here are the games I plan on bringing, with some videos as well that share an overview of the game and how to play it. These videos would be great (but not required) for your teen to look at before coming so they can see if there's a game that interests them and to already have an introduction to the rules and how it is played. There should be enough time for each game to be played at least twice, and people can switch around.
Uno — I kind of feel like this one doesn't need any extra explanation.
Set — This is a matching game. Typically we have it set out and people come and join to find matches between other games, rather than a sit-down and keep score approach. But if some of them want to be serious about it, score can be kept.

Point Salad — This is a drafting game where players take (draft) either a point card or two veggie cards each turn to build their "point salad". It's pretty quick to play and each round is different since the point cards used by each player will vary.

Qwirkle — We played this one in the Building Thinking Skills class last year, so it may be familiar to some. Each turn you lay down tiles to score points, and there are rules about how to create the lines and the score you get.

Fabled Fruit — This is a legacy style game. Which means every time the same group sits down to play it, the game changes. After one game is done, it is recorded where the group is and next time they play, they start off where they stopped. The actions available each turn may change as players work through the deck.

Splendor — I will admit that I am less familiar with this one, having only played it a couple times myself. Each turn you are either gathering jewels or purchasing resources. Jewels & resources help you purchase more resources, and thus get more points.

Doomlings — This game involves compiling trait cards that build points each turn. There are various actions and bonuses that impact how you play. It seems a little complex at first, but is picked up quickly when played. It can be summed up as "At the start of each round, do what the age card says to do, and then on your turn, play a card and do what it says to do". Lots of fun, and each play through is different as you have different ages and different cards that get played.
